- Congratulations
to Leaving and Junior Certificate pupils of 2009 who performed
so well in the examinations. Over 80% of the Leaving Certificate
pupils have achieved places in Third Level Colleges.
- New
facilities at St. Joseph's including an Astro-Turf Pitch,
new Soccer and Basketball courts are now available. The facilities
were funded by the Department of Education and Science.
- Congratulations
to Louisa Heneghan who has been awarded an Entrance Exhibition
Scholarship to Trinity College, Dublin on her results in her Leaving
Certificate.
- Annual
Report from Board of Management to Parents is now available
under School Plan.
- The
Code of Behaviour Review is underway in the school. Submissions
welcome from Parents/Guardians.

Congratulations
to Sinead Reape, Leaving Certificate 2008 who achieved
one of the top Leaving Certificate results in Mayo. Sinead has
been awarded an All-Ireland Scholarship. It was presented to
her in the University of Limerick on Saturday March 7th.

The 3rd Year
Options Night took place on Thursday March 5th at 8 p.m.
There were presentations given on Transition Year, LCVP and
the Leaving Certificate. If you have any queries please contact

Congratulations
to BT Young Scientist prizewinners Eamonn Walsh and Seán
Hynes whose project "An investigation into variable valve
timing in an internal combustion engine" was awarded 2nd
prize in the Senior Technology Section in January.

Transition Year pupils won the Overall Best School recently
in the Moy Valley Resources/County Enterprise Board competition.

Report
- The
Department of Education and Science Inspectors have reported
back verbally to staff and Board of Management. The school has
received a most positive report with much praise for the work
being done in all sections of the school. The Whole School Evaluation

St.
Joseph's has 5 projects in the BT Young Scientist Exhibition
2009.

St.
Joseph's Secondary School has been awarded the major environmental
award of the Green Flag by An Taisce in conjunction with
Mayo County Council. It was raised by the school Trustee, Bishop
Brendan Kelly on Thursday, May 29th after 11am Mass.

The
First Years spent a most enjoyable day in Inis Mór, Aran
Islands on May 9th. Following a long trek to Dún Aenghus,
they enjoyed a barbecue on Cill Muirbhí beach before
returning home after a pleasant outing.

THREE
students at St. Joseph's Secondary School, Foxford were among
the prizewinners at the 2008 BT Young Scientist of the year
Exhibition. Sean Hynes, Conor Phillips and Eamonn Wlash were
awarded 2nd place in the Senior Technology Section for
their project entitled 'Hand Held Timed Drug Dispenser', which
reminds patients to take their pills on time. The group was
presented with its prize at a ceremony in the RDS attended by
students from a total of 210 schools from across the country.
About
36,000 visitors attended the exhibition where 1,128 students
displayed their projects. The school had three other projects
in the competition, which was attended by their Parents and
teachers, Miss Marie Lavin and Declan Cafferkey.
- A
new I.T. Room was installed during the summer with state
of the art facilities including data projectors, server etc. This
is an excellent addition to our I.T facilities and we wish the
students every good luck with using the new room.

A new Textiles Room is now in use in the Top School. This
is a welcome addition to the Home-Economics Department. The furniture
and equipment for the room has been funded by the Department of
Education and Science.
