Principal's Message
Welcome
to stjosephsfoxford.com
St.
Joseph's Secondary School was founded in 1961 by the Sisters of
Charity to provide a Catholic education for local boys and girls,
who were forced to leave the area at the time in order to be educated.
It
was a welcome addition to the renowned Music School and Secretarial
School built earlier by the Sisters. Through many years of changes
in the education landscape, the school has retained its central
philosophy of service to students, guided by the Christian ideal
of charity.
"Caritas
Christi urget nis" - the Charity of Christ inspires us.
Following
the withdrawal of the Sisters of Charity, we are proud to be under
the Trusteeship of the Bishop of Achonry, Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Flynn.
Today,
Meánscoil Iosaif as it is also known, is a
modern educational establishment, offering a complete range of subjects,
with modern facilities and a vibrant staff. A careful balance is
maintained between technological, artistic, scientific and academic
education.
We
realise that entry into secondary school is a daunting task for
most people and on this site we try to give a outline of the school's
activities, strengths and achievements. Rest assured that should
your son/daughter decide to choose our school, we will endeavour
to make this transition an easy and happy one. Regular contact with
parents is a hallmark of the school.
We
invite your son/daughter to visit our school on our Open Day. We
invite Parents to visit and view what we have on offer on Enrolment
Day, when you will meet members of our teaching staff, who will
be happy to help.
